Ignition Key Difficult to Remove
MODELS:
1995-1996 (FJ) Talon
NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT WITH 2.0L TURBO CHARGED ENGINES AND AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLES.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The ignition key may be difficult to remove after the vehicle is placed in the Park position and the ignition key is switched to Off. This condition may be more prevalent in colder ambient temperatures.
DIAGNOSIS:
Start the vehicle and operate the shift lever in any gear range. Place the shifter in Park, switch the ignition key Off and attempt to remove the ignition key. Several attempts may be required to duplicate the condition. If the ignition key sticks or is difficult to remove perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
1 MR388500 Cable Kit, ATX Shift
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This repair involves replacing the automatic transaxle shift cable with a revised part.
1. Remove the ATX shift cable (Figure 1) using the steps outlined in the appropriate service manual.
2. Using the appropriate service manual procedures, Install and adjust the new cable kit p/n MR388500. Use all the installation hardware included with the kit.
