C. Reinstall Fuel Tank

1. Raise the fuel tank into position.

NOTE:
The fuel tank fits tightly between the rear differential and the body. Ensure that the rollover valve clears the body and then push the tank rearward and up to install it.

2. Install the fuel tank retaining straps. Tighten the attaching bolts to 19 ft-lbs (25 N.m).

3. Connect the fuel filler hose to the filler neck using the supplied clamp.

4. Connect the fuel supply and return hoses to the steel fuel lines. Connect the fuel vapor hose to the steel vapor tube (Figure 2).

5. Connect the brake line brackets to the fuel tank support straps.

6. Install the fuel tank protector.

7. Install the exhaust hangar bracket located in front of the fuel tank.

8. Install the center exhaust pipe and connect the center exhaust pipe to the muffler.

9. Connect the front of the center exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter.

10. Connect the exhaust pipe ground strap.

11. Twist the oxygen sensor 31A turns counterclockwise and then install the rear oxygen sensor into the exhaust pipe.

12. Install the driveshaft by aligning the scribe marks (Figure 1) and then connecting the driveshaft to the differential.

13. Install the driveshaft supports.

14. Install the heat shield on the front driveshaft support.

15. Lower the vehicle.

16. Connect the fuel pump electrical connector.

17. Connect the battery.

18. Completely fill the fuel tank with premium fuel.

19. Drive the vehicle for approximately 10 miles.

20. Remove the left (driver) side gauge unit inspection cover.

21. Inspect the areas around the fuel pump and gauge unit, the fuel supply and return lines and the fuel filler neck for fuel leakage. Repair any leakage as necessary.

22. Install the left (driver) side gauge unit inspection cover.

23. Install the right (passenger) side fuel pump inspection cover and electrical harness.

24. Install the rear seat cushion.
