Purge Control System Inspection





1. Disconnect the vacuum hose (red stripes) from the throttle body and connect it to a hand vacuum pump.
2. Plug the nipple from which the vacuum hose is disconnected.
3. Apply 53 kPa (16 in.Hg) of vacuum to check the following items.

When engine is cold [Engine coolant temperature: 4O°C (104°F) or less]

Engine status Normal condition

3000 RPM Vacuum is maintained


When engine is hot [Engine coolant temperature: 80°C (176°F) or higher]

Engine status Normal condition

3000 RPM Vacuum is leaks





4. Remove the hand vacuum pump and connect the vacuum hose (red stripes) to the original position.
5. Disconnect the purge air hose from the air intake hose and connect a hand vacuum pump to the purge air hose.
6. Plug the air intake hose nipple.
7. Apply 53 kPa (16 in.Hg) of vacuum to check the following items under 80°C of engine coolant temperature.

Engine status Normal condition

Idle Vacuum is maintained

Suddenly racing Vacuum is leaks
