Task Manager
During the course of the vehicle's operation, many diagnostic steps must be performed. Most of these must be performed under specific operating conditions (engine temperature, RPM, etc.) to be accurate. A fault may have to occur more than once before the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) is illuminated and a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is recorded. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) contains Task manager software to organize and prioritize the diagnostic procedures and the protocol for recording and displaying their results.
