Wheel Hub: Service and Repair
REMOVALFig. 5 Hub & Knuckle Assembly Removal:
Remove knuckle and hub assembly in numbered sequence, noting the following:
1. Loosen driveshaft nut with vehicle on floor and brakes applied.
2. Loosen, but do not remove tie rod end nut.
3. Remove and suspend caliper assembly out of the way using a piece of wire.
4. Shift the knuckle to the outside in order to maintain the clearance between the front hub assembly mounting bolts and the driveshaft.
CAUTION: Do not damage the ball joint boot.
5. On models with ABS, ensure to not damage rotor.
DISASSEMBLE & ASSEMBLE

The front hub assembly should not be disassembled. If required by damage or wear, it should be replaced.
Disassemble knuckle assembly in numbered sequence, noting the following:
1. Loosen, but do not remove tie rod end nut.
2. Loosen, but do not remove compression lower arm nut.
3. Loosen, but do not remove lateral lower arm nut.
INSTALLATION
Reverse removal procedure to install, noting the following:

1. Ensure to install driveshaft washer as shown.
2. After installing wheel, lower vehicle to ground, then final-tighten driveshaft nut.
3. If cotter pin holes do not line up, torque nut up to 188 ft. lbs.
