Fig. 17 Belt Tension Inspection:




1. Using a suitable belt tension gauge, measure drive belt deflection by pulling or pushing at mid-point of the belt between pulleys shown with a force of 22 lbs.
2. Deflection should be 0.26-0.30 inch. If deflection is not within specifications, tighten belt as follows:
a. Loosen tension pulley fixing bolt A.
b. Adjust tension to specification with adjusting bolt B, 0.22-0.24 inch for a new belt and 0.26-0.30 inch for used belt. [01]
c. Torque fixing nut to 17-20 ft. lbs.
3. Check belt tension after driving vehicle.



[01] -- A belt which has been installed and run for 15 minutes is considered "used".
