Water Pump: Service and Repair

Fig. 91 Water Pump Removal:

Remove water pump in numbered sequence, Fig.101, noting the following:
1. Drain engine coolant into a suitable container as follows:
a. Place instrument panel temperature control lever in Hot position.
b. Carefully remove radiator cap.
c. Remove radiator drain plug.
2. Remove timing belt rear cover, refer to Timing Belt Replacement under Timing Belt/Service and Repair.
3. Reverse removal procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Coat the O-ring with water to ease installation.
b. Refer to bolt inset, Fig.101, when installing water pump attaching bolts.
