Right Stub Shaft Seal, Replace
1. Place vehicle in Neutral position, then raise and support vehicle.2. Remove short driveshaft, then place alignment mark on outer adjuster and housing.
3. Remove outer adjuster lock.
4. Using tool No. 6503, or equivalent, loosen outer adjuster, then retighten to alignment mark using a torque wrench. Record amount of torque required to return alignment marks to their original location. Remove adjuster.
5. Using press and seal remover No. 6558, or equivalent, replace oil seal.
6. Inspect stub shaft for corrosion.
7. Lubricate O-ring, threads on adjuster, seal protector and seal lips with gear oil.
8. Install outer adjuster into transaxle case. Torque adjuster to within 10 ft. lbs. of torque reading recorded in step 4.
9. Rotate ring gear four revolutions in both directions to seat differential bearings.
10. Continue tightening outer adjuster until alignment marks line up in there original location, then install adjuster lock.
11. Install new driveshaft retaining circlip and O-ring on stub shaft, then the driveshaft.
12. Check fluid level in differential. Adjust as necessary.
