DATE: Oct. 6, 1995

SUBJECT:
Squawk From Front

Weather

MODELS:
1993 - 1995 (LH) Concorde/Intrepid/Vision/LHS/New Yorker

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Squawk from front stabilizer bar isolator in cold weather (less than 20 degrees F).

DIAGNOSIS:

Soak vehicle for at least 4 hours at temperatures less than 20 degrees F. Drive vehicle to initiate moderate suspension jounce travel (slowly over speed bumps) and listen for squawk from front suspension.

PARTS REQUIRED:

2 4695838 Isolator, Stabilizer Bar

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves replacing the stabilizer bar isolators with revised parts.

1. Remove the two bolts that attach each stabilizer bar isolator retainer to the cradle assembly.

2. Remove the stabilizer bar isolator retainers from the isolator.

3. Inspect for broken or distorted retainers, replace as necessary. Open slit in isolator and remove from stabilizer.

4. Install revised isolators, P/N 4695838, on the stabilizer bar. Position isolator with the slit toward the front of vehicle. Install the isolator retainers on the stabilizer isolator bushings.

NOTE:
WHEN STABILIZER BAR IS INSTALLED, POSITION STABILIZER BAR SO LOWER PART OF BAR IS CENTERED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CRADLE ASSEMBLY. FAILURE TO DO THIS MAY CAUSE STABILIZER BAR TO CONTACT OTHER SUSPENSION COMPONENTS.

5. Install but do not tighten the four isolator retainer to cradle assembly mounting bolts.

6. Lower vehicle to ground.

7. With the full weight of the vehicle supported by the suspension, using a long extension, torque the four stabilizer bar isolator retainer to cradle assembly attaching bolts to 55 Nm (40 ft.lbs.).
