GROUP: Suspension

DATE: Dec. 2, 1994

SUBJECT:
Rear Road Noise Improvement

MODELS:

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Excessive road surface to tire noise from the rear wheels. Varies with road surface.

Raise vehicle on a suitable hoist that will allow rear suspension to fully extend. The end of the top coil of the spring should be indexed just to the right of the upper strut mount wing as viewed from the outboard side. If spring is indexed other than this position, perform the repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves Indexing the spring to the upper strut mount.

1. Rotate spring(s) until they are properly indexed. It may be necessary to use a spring compressor to reduce the tension.

2. Verify the spring is seated in the upper strut mount.
