Power Steering System Noise

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE JAN. 1, 1995 (MDH 01-01-XX) EQUIPPED WITH A 3.3L ENGINE OR JULY 1, 1995 (MDH 07-01-XX) EQUIPPED WITH A 3.5L ENGINE.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Objectionable power steering noise (whine) while turning steering wheel.

DIAGNOSIS:

1. With vehicle at operating temperature, in park and at idle, move steering wheel from side to side. If power steering whine noise is very audible and cyclical, proceed to step 2.

2. Use mirror to verify part number on power steering pressure hose gear end shell. If part number is 4764825 for 3.3L or 4764830 for 3.5L, perform repair procedure. If part number is other than specified, continue normal diagnosis.

PARTS REQUIRED:

1 4798003 Hose Assembly, Power Steering Pressure, 3.3L Engine
1 4798347 Hose Assembly, Power Steering Pressure, 3.5L Engine

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This bulletin involves replacing the power steering pressure hose with a revised part.

Replace power steering pressure hose as described on page 19-10 of the 1995 Concorde/Intrepid/Vision/LHS/New Yorker Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-5140).

POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
