Belt Tightening/Tension




1. Using belt tensioning tool No. C-4162, or equivalent, ensure belt tension is 120 lbs. If not within specification, tighten belt as follows:

Fig. 13 Belt Tension Inspection:




a. Loosen tensioner pulley locking nut.
b. Adjust tension to specification with adjusting bolt, 150 lbs. for a new belt and 120 lbs. for used belt. [01]
c. Torque locking nut to 40 ft. lbs.
2. Check belt tension after driving vehicle.



[01] -- A belt which has been installed and run for 15 minutes is considered "used".
