Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove fan module.
2. Remove drive belt. Refer to Cooling System for procedure.

3. Use Special Tool C-3281 to hold damper while removing crankshaft bolt. Remove crankshaft damper (Fig. 1).

4. Use Tool C-4991 to remove oil seal (Fig. 8). Be careful not to damage the crankshaft seal surface of cover.
INSTALLATION
Fig. 6 Install Crankshaft Oil Seal:
1. Install new seal by using Tool C-4992 (Fig. 6).
2. Place seal into opening with seal spring towards the inside of engine. Install seal until flush with cover.

3. Install crankshaft damper. Use Special Tool C-3281 to hold damper while tightening crankshaft bolt to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) (Fig. 7).
4. Install accessory drive belt. Refer to Cooling System for installation procedure.
5. Install fan module.
