Help 3, Connector Service

NOTE: Focus on the circuit being checked.

CAUTION: Use care when testing wires to avoid damage to connectors.

Procedure

Each time you disconnect a connector, inspect both sides of the connector for water, dirt or physical damage such as corrosion, pin push-outs, or spread terminals.

- Dirt and corrosion are the biggest problems in connectors, causing voltage drops, open circuits, or other improper operation. Water and dirt in a connector can allow voltage to leak into other circuits, leading to problems during damp/wet weather.

Pay attention to female connectors for spread cavities.

Verify the wire color in each cavity of the connector against the appropriate PINOUT, and correct any cross wired connectors.

Repairs:

Clean, repair, or replace the connector as necessary for proper vehicle operation.

All wiring connectors on the Electronic Automatic Transaxle can be disassembled for repair.

NOTE: Parts kits are available from MOPAR for wiring and connector repairs.
