SC-6A Checking Speed Control Denied Message

NOTE: Perform TEST SC-1A before proceeding. SC-1A Speed Control Relay Output Inspection

Speed control switch and sevo functions appear to operate properly.

1. Road test the vehicle and attempt to set the speed control while traveling at speeds over 35 mph.


2. Connect Scan Tool and read the speed control "Cutout" status. The last (most recent), cause for the speed control not to set will be indicated by "Denied Status".

Denied Message Explanation of Message

ON/OFF The powertrain control module does not see an "ON" signal from the switch at cavity 23.

SPEED The vehicle speed as seen by the powertrain control module at cavity 29 is not greater than 36 mph.

RPM The engine rpm is excessively high.

P/N The brake switch sense circuit is open indicationg to the powertrain control module that the transmission is not in gear. The sense circuit, cabity 30 of the PCM, is grounded through the park/neutral switch when the transmission is in park or neutral.

RPM/SPD The powertrain control module senses excessive engine rpm for a given vehicle speed.

SOL FLT The powertrain control module senses a servo solenoid circuit trouble code that is matuing or set in memeory.
