Lean Operation at Wide Open Throttle
WHEN MONITOREDWith the engine in closed loop
Engine coolant temperature above 160 ° F
WOT for 1 second with engine rpm above 2,000
O2 sensor stays lean for 1.5 seconds.
SET CONDITION
O2 sensor signals need to meet above requirements one time per WOT period.
THEORY OF OPERATION
At the time the above conditions are met, the PCM had sensed a lean condition in the fuel delivery system.
In order to protect the engine from running too lean, the PCM will go into limp-in mode.
- Only positive calibration values will be used.
- Oxygen sensor diagnostics are disabled, protecting from O2 sensor stays above center (rich) trouble code occurring at WOT).
NOTE: At the time the trouble code was set, a potential low fuel pressure problem was indicated. The condition that caused the PCM to detect low fuel pressure could be an intermittent problem. Be sure to inspect the complete fuel delivery system for possible restrictions.
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Fuel pump
- Fuel tank filter (sock)
- Fuel filter
- Fuel lines
Possible plugged injector(s)
