IMPORTANTDEALER SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
Emissions Recalls # 7671 and # 7672
Fuel Pressure Regulator, Aspirator System and Reprogram PCM
^ This service requirement applies only to 1995 model year Dodge Avenger, Chrysler Sebring and Eagle Talon (FJ) vehicles equipped with a 2.0L DOHC (non-turbo) engine ("Y" in the 8th VIN position), manual transmission and a:
^ Federal Emission Control System (Sales Code -- NAA) -- Recall # 7671
^ California Emission Control System (Sales Code -- NAE) -- Recall # 7672
^ NOx emission levels on the above listed vehicles, may not comply with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) or California Air Resources Board (CARB) emission regulations. In addition, a spring in the fuel pressure regulator may fail. To correct these conditions, the fuel pressure regulator must be replaced, the exhaust aspirator system must be removed and the powertrain control module (PCM) must be reprogrammed or if necessary, replaced.
^ For vehicles involved in Recall # 7672: Be sure to provide a Vehicle Emission Recall Proof of Correction Form (Form No. 81-016-1053) to each California vehicle owner upon completion of the recall service, for owner use as proof during renewal of the vehicle registration.
^ The PCM software that is loaded during the recall service procedure also includes any other PCM updates that may have been released (i.e. TSB's) between the date of manufacture and the issuance of the TIL CD update that was used.
Alternate Transportation:
^ If inspection determines that PCM replacement is required and the vehicle must be held overnight, dealers should attempt to minimize customer inconvenience by placing the owner in a loaner vehicle.
Parts Packages:
^ Each involved dealer, to whom vehicles in the recall were invoiced, will receive enough Pressure Regulator and Aspirator Packages to service 25% of those vehicles.
