With Manufacturer's Scan Tool
CAUTIONS:1. If battery voltage is low, diagnostic trouble codes will not be output. Accordingly, be sure to check the battery before carrying out inspection.
2. If the battery is disconnected or the PCM connector is disconnected, the diagnostic trouble code memory will be erased. Accordingly, the battery should not be disconnected until reading the diagnostic trouble codes has been completed.
3. Always turn the ignition switch OFF to connect or disconnect the scan tool.
Using The Scan Tool:
HOW TO ERASE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES
1. Connect the scan tool to the data link connector. If possible, start the engine and turn on the air-conditioning switch (if applicable). Shut off the engine.
2. Read the diagnostic trouble codes.
3. Refer to the Trouble Code Descriptions and repair the malfunction.
4. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and then back to ON again.
5. Erase the diagnostic trouble codes using the scan tool.
6. Check the diagnostic trouble code is normal.
SENSOR READ TEST, INPUT STATE TEST, OUTPUT STATE, AND ACTUATOR TEST
1. Connect the scan tool to the Data Link Connector.
2. Carry out inspection by means of the sensor read test and the actuator test mode, etc. If there is a malfunction, check and repair the chassis harnesses and components.
3. After repairing, re-check using the scan tool and check that the abnormal input and output have returned to normal as a result of the repairs.
4. Erase the diagnostic trouble code memory.
5. Remove the scan tool.
6. Start the engine again and carry out a road test to confirm that the problem has disappeared.
