EVAP Purge Solenoid Circuit

NAME OF CODE:
Evap Solenoid Circuit

WHEN MONITORED:
With the ignition key ON and the engine running.

SET CONDITION:
The evaporative solenoid control circuit is not in the expected state when requested to operate by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

THEORY OF OPERATION:
The evaporative solenoid is actuated by the PCM to a duty cycle. This duty cycle percentage changes according to an operating range from wide open throttle to idle. The PCM looks for current changes when actuating the solenoid. Without changes for a set time, the PCM sets a trouble code.

POSSIBLE CAUSES:
- Open or shorted control circuit
- Open fused ignition switch output circuit
- Open or shorted solenoid control coil
- PCM failure
