53 PCM Failure SPI Communications - (P 0605)

53 PCM FAILURE SPI COMMUNICATIONS - (P 0605)

Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) is a device in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) used to control outputs such as the EGR solenoid.

ENABLING CONDITIONS
- Battery voltage must be at least 10 volts
- Ignition voltage must be supplied to the PCM

The MIL is illuminated and a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is stored if there is a communication error on the SPI lasting 0.70 second.

This malfunction can be caused only by a failed internal SPI communication. To repair this DTC, the PCM must be replaced.
