34 Speed Control Solenoid Circuits

34 SPEED CONTROL SOLENOID CIRCUITS

When the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) receives an ON signal from the speed control switch at pin 55, the PCM allows battery voltage to be supplied to the speed control solenoids through the speed control relay. When the PCM receives a SET signal from the speed control switch at pin 31, the PCM provides a ground for the speed control vent and vacuum circuits at pins 40 and 60 until the target speed has been achieved. Once the target speed is reached, the PCM toggles the vacuum and vent solenoids to maintain the target speed.

This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC), when set, indicates an open or shorted condition in one of the speed control solenoids' circuits.

This malfunction could possibly be caused by problems with any of the following components:

- Vacuum solenoid
- Vent solenoid
- Stop lamp switch
- Vacuum or vent solenoid wiring or related connectors (open or shorted)
- PCM
