COLUMN SHIFT
The interlock cassette slides into the housing behind the lock cylinder. The cable at the rear of the cassette attaches to a locking arm on the shifter mechanism. The column shift interlock system is only adjusted after installing a new cassette. The cassette cannot be adjusted more than once. If the system operates incorrectly, install and adjust a new interlock cassette.
Removal
1. Disarm airbag as outlined under "Precautions."
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Remove tilt lever then upper and lower column covers.
4. Depress tab on top of cassette, then slide cassette out of housing.
5. Remove cable from locking arm on shifter mechanism.
Installation
1. Ensure latch rotates freely on shifter gate.
2. With shifter in Park position and key removed, install cable over hook of locking arm of shifter mechanism.
3. Slide cassette into housing until it locks into place.
4. Push adjustment tab in until it stops. The adjustment tab will click as it moves into position. Ensure the tab is fully depressed.
5. Rearm airbag as outlined under "Precautions."
