Engine: Service and Repair





1. Relieve fuel system pressure as follows:
a. Disconnect fuel pump harness connector at fuel tank.
b. Start engine and let it run until it stalls, then turn ignition switch to off.
c. Disconnect battery ground cable.
d. Reconnect fuel pump harness connector.
2. Remove hood.
3. Drain coolant as follows:
a. Place instrument panel temperature control lever in Hot position.
b. Carefully remove radiator cap.
c. Remove radiator drain plug.
4. Remove transaxle assembly, refer to Transaxle Replacement.

5. Remove radiator in numbered sequence as shown, noting the following:
a. Prior to removing radiator hoses, mark hose clamps in relation to hose for installation reference.
b. After disconnecting transaxle cooler lines on models with automatic transaxle, plug or cover end of line to prevent entry of dirt or foreign material.

6. Remove engine in numbered sequence, noting the following:
a. Remove power steering pump from bracket with hoses attached, then secure pump out of the way with a piece of wire.
b. Remove air conditioner compressor from bracket with hoses attached, then secure compressor out of the way with a piece of wire.
c. Using a suitable engine hoist, slightly raise engine, then remove engine mount bracket.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
