3.5 Liter Engine
1. Disconnect the battery.2. Remove the air filter assembly from the vehicle.
3. Disconnect the 4-way ignition coil pack connector from the ignition coil pack and connect it to the service wiring harness as shown in Figure 6.
4. Fasten the service harness ground eyelet to the engine as shown in Figure 7. Route the ground eyelet wire above the EGR solenoid to prevent the wire from contacting the exhaust manifold. The torque requirement for the ground bolt is 300 in.lbs. (25 ft.lbs.).
5. Route the service wiring harness as shown in Figures 4 and 6. Use tie straps in indicated areas to secure the harness to the vehicle. Be sure to keep the harness away from hazardous areas (sheet metal edges, heater hoses, exhaust manifolds, etc.).
6. Fasten the service harness ground eyelet to the right frame rail as shown in Figure 4. The torque requirement for the ground eyelet screw is 35 in.lbs. (3 ft.lbs.).
7. Disconnect the 60-way electrical connector from the Powertrain Control Module.
8. Remove the wire shield from the 60-way connector.
9. Remove the red locking wedge from the 60-way connector to access pins 17, 18 and 19. See Figure 5.
10. Extract the circuits from cavities 17, 18 and 19.
11. Install the service wiring harness circuits in the 60-way connector, placing the black wire into cavity 17, the red wire into cavity 18 and the white wire into cavity 19.
12. Re-assemble the 60-way connector and connect it to the Powertrain Control Module. Torque the 60-way bolt to 35 in.lbs. (3 ft.lbs.).
13. Re-connect the battery, install the air filter assembly and test the system.
