NOTE:
THIS CONDITION AFFECTS ONLY THOSE VEHICLES WITH A BASE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM). ONLY VEHICLES WITHOUT AN AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL MODULE (SALES CODE HAB), AN OVERHEAD TEMPERATURE INFORMATION SYSTEM MODULE (SALES CODE LET), AND VEHICLE THEFT ALARM (SALES CODE LSA) ARE EQUIPPED WITH A BASE BCM (SALES CODE JLJ).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

On some vehicles, radio interference or a buzzing noise through the audio system speakers may be present during the interior courtesy lamp fade to off cycle.

PARTS REQUIRED:

5 Ft. 22 Gauge Stranded Wire NPN
2 0.25" Heat Shrink Tubing 4419644
AR Rosin Core Solder NPN

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. With the ignition switch in the off position, disconnect the battery.

2. Remove the Base Body Control Module from the right side of the instrument panel as described in the 1993 Concorde/Intrepid/Vision Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-3140).





3. Disconnect the wiring connectors.

4. Remove any tape from the wiring harness to access circuit M2 in the bone wiring connector. Circuit M2 is a 22 gauge yellow wire.

5. Cut the M2 yellow wire approximately 2" from the back of the wiring connector. Strip the ends of the cut wire.

6. Take a piece of 22 gauge wire, 5 ft. in length, and strip each end of the wire.

7. Slide the 5 ft. of wire through two pieces of 0.25" (P/N 4419644) heat shrink tubing.

8. Twist each end piece of wire with each end of the M2 yellow wire.

9. Solder the two wire joints using rosin core solder.

10. Cover each wire joint with a piece of heat shrink tubing and apply it to the wire using a heat gun.

11. Fold the additional wire back and forth on itself and tape it to the wire harness.

12. Re-connect the wiring connectors.

13. Install the Body Control Module.

14. Connect the battery and test the system.
