SUBJECT:
Speed Control/Air Conditioning Diagnostics
THIS BULLETIN SUPERSEDES TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER 08-44-93 DATED OCT. 1, 1993 WHICH SHOULD BE MARKED IN YOUR FILES. THE BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO ADD A PROCEDURE TO CONFIGURE THE MEMORY LOCATION AFFECTED.
MODELS:
1994 (LH) Concorde/Intrepid/Vision/LHS/New Yorker
NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO THOSE VEHICLES BUILT FROM 7/26/93 (MDH 07-26-XX) THROUGH 9/1/93 (MDH 09-01-XX).
DISCUSSION:
On 1994 LH vehicles equipped with air conditioning and/or speed control, Diagnostic Trouble Codes will not be generated by the engine controller for either of these two systems if an actual fault occurs. Standard service procedures still apply, minus the ability to read the Diagnostic Trouble Code.
The DRB III (MDS after installation of Release 14, July 1994) has the ability to properly configure the one memory location affected that will allow the Diagnostic Trouble Codes to be stored. To check and/or change this memory location, proceed with the following:
1. Using the DRB III enter the engine diagnostic section and verify the correct PCM.
2. At this point press page forward.
3. If either of the status indicators do not reflect the equipment found on the vehicle, press the corresponding number to toggle the status flag. For example, the vehicle above shows AC status Non-Equipped, the vehicle has Air Conditioning, pressing 1 causes the DRB III to display:
4. Push any key and the following should be displayed:
This procedure should be performed before doing any other diagnostics on the Powertrain Control System.
