SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Some vehicles may exhibit unacceptable wind noise that can be heard from the front or rear seat positions.


DIAGNOSIS:

Verify that all door and window weatherstrips are in place and sealing properly. If the noise is coming from the front door mirror area, front door B-pillar area, or rear seat, proceed with the repair procedure.


PARTS REQUIRED:

1 Foam Stuffer 4756020
AR Foam Tape (1 " x 3/16") NPN


REPAIR PROCEDURE:


These repairs involve sealing the front door mirror area, B-pillar, and rear door flag.


WIND NOISE AT FRONT MIRROR AREA

1. Remove front door trim panel and inner belt weatherstrip as described in the 1993 Concorde/Intrepid/Vision Service Manual, Publication No. 81-270-3140.

2. Remove upper door garnish molding.

3. Remove mastic patch covering mirror access holes.

4. Remove mirror.






5. Add 1-1/2" long piece of 1" wide x 3/16" thick foam tape (PN 4318028 or equivalent) at front corner of mirror housing. Trim to fit mirror housing as shown in illustration. Pad to be placed between mirror housing and mirror seat.

6. Pull flap of outer belt weatherstrip so that it rests on top of glass run weatherstrip.

7. Push foam stuffer located in cavity behind flap of outer belt weatherstrip down into door out of the way.

8. Install foam stuffer (PN 4756020) in cavity behind flap of outer belt weatherstrip.






9. Use foam tape as required to fill the gap between the inside of the glass channel and top of the inner door sheet metal.



10. Install mirror.

11. Install mastic patch over mirror access holes.

12. Install upper door garnish molding.

13. Install inner belt weatherstrip and door trim panel.

14. Repeat procedure on other side if necessary.



WIND NOISE AT FRONT DOOR B-PILLAR AREA

Seal top of B-Pillar applique to glass run weatherstrip using black silicone sealer (Mopar PN 4318025).


WIND NOISE AUDIBLE FROM REAR SEAT





Seal top of door flag to glass run weatherstrip using black silicone sealer (Mopar PN 4318025).
