Installation
1. Paint the new side air dam panel(s) as described in the 1992 Laser/Talon Service Manual (81-270-1500).
2. Remove all tape residue from the door panel using a 3M Scotch-Brite Molding
Adhesive and Stripe Removal Disc (3M part no. 07501 Disc and 07500 Holder) or other suitable tool.
3. Clean the door surface thoroughly with 3M General Purpose Cleaner (3M part no. 08984).
4. Install eight trim clips with gaskets on the side air dam brackets (Fig. 2).
5. Clean the side air dam with 3M General Purpose Cleaner (3M part no. 08984) where urethane adhesive and rope butyl tape will be applied. Refer to Fig. 3.
6. Apply two layers of MoPar Butyl Tape, Part No. 4076274 on the side air dam just above the rib as shown in Fig. 3.
7. Apply 3M Primerless Superfast Urethane (3M Part No. 08609) or equivalent to the top rib of the side air dam as shown in Fig. 3. Do not apply excessive amounts of urethane.
8. Peel the backing paper off the adhesive tape.
9. Install the side air dam on the vehicle by starting at the lower bottom location pin hole (Fig.4). Begin installing the clips at the bottom center and work outward toward the outer edge being careful not to let the tape at the center and top of the air dam contact the door panel. Insert the clips on the front and rear edge of the air dam by working from the bottom to the top.
10. Press the top edge of the air dam against the door panel to make the tape, urethane and butyl tape contact the door. For best adhesion of the urethane, the vehicle should remain at room temperature for 24 hrs.
