MODELS:
1991 (BD) Talon (B2) Summit

DISCUSSION:

Effective November 11, 1990, modifications were made to the 1-2 synchronizer hub and sleeve, the 1-2 synchronizer spring, and the 3-4 synchronizer spring for 1991 vehicles equipped with manual transaxles, to prevent hard shifting/gear clash during shifting. These parts are now available for vehicles built prior to November 11, 1990. These improvements will not compensate for incomplete disengagement of the clutch (not pushing the clutch pedal all the way to the floor).

The 1-2 synchronizer sleeve, 1-2 spring, and the 3-4 spring have been modified: the inner groove of the sleeve was made narrower, and the inner diameter of both springs were reduced, see Figure 1.

NOTE: THE 1-2 SYNCHRONIZER SLEEVE, HUB, AND **SPRINGS** MUST BE INSTALLED AS AN ASSEMBLY. REPLACEMENT OF THE 3-4 SYNCHRONIZER **SPRINGS** MAY BE REPLACED WITHOUT REPLACING THE SLEEVE AND HUB.
