Differential Carrier Replacement

REMOVAL
1. Remove driveshafts, refer to Transmission and Drivetrain/Drive/Propeller Shafts, Bearings and Joints/Service and Repair.
2. Position a suitable jack under rear axle assembly, then drain differential gear oil.
3. Remove center exhaust pipe as shown.
4. Scribe mating marks on differential companion flange and flange yoke for assembly reference.
5. Remove differential to propeller shaft connection, then support propeller shaft with wire.
6. Remove dynamic damper to differential support member bolts.
7. Remove differential support member bolts, then the carrier.

INSTALLATION
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque differential support member attaching bolts to 80-94 lb-ft.
b. Torque dynamic damper to differential support member attaching bolts to 58-72 lb-ft.
c. Torque propeller shaft to differential carrier attaching bolts to 22-25 lb-ft.
d. Torque driveshaft to companion flange attaching bolts to 40-47 lb-ft.
