DISASSEMBLY

NOTE: Disassemble pump in numbered sequence shown, noting the following:
1. Tap rotor side of pulley assembly slightly with a plastic hammer, then remove from pump housing.
NOTE: Do not disassemble flow control valve.

INSPECTION

1. Clean all parts in a suitable cleaning fluid.
2. Check fit of vanes in slots of rotor for tightness or excessive looseness. Vanes must fit snugly but slide freely in slots in rotor. Replace rotor if excessive looseness exists between rotor and vanes. Replace vanes if worn or scored.
3. Inspect pump housing for cracks or damage. Check housing for evidence of wear or scoring.
4. Check all springs for free length, distortion or collapsed coils.
5. Inspect locating dowel pins for distortion.
6. Examine outer diameter of flow control valve for scoring or roughness. Slight damage may be cleaned up with crocus cloth. Check valve assembly for freedom of movement in bore of pump housing.
7. Check all oil passages in pump parts for obstruction.
8. Check bushing in pump housing for wear or damage.

ASSEMBLY

NOTE: Assemble pump in reverse order of numbered sequence shown, noting the following:
1. Apply power steering fluid to all O-rings prior to installation.
2. Install rotor with countersunk part facing pump cover.
3. Ensure that rotor snap ring is secured in countersunk part of rotor.
4. Install cam ring with punched mark facing pump body and dowel pin holes aligned with dowel pins on pump body.
