1990 (BD) TALON (2WD & 4WD 2.0L TURBOCHARGED)
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some 1990 Talon vehicles equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine may experience a no start condition with a hot engine. A modulator kit has been designed to be used in conjunction with the electronic control unit to prevent this condition.
DIAGNOSIS:
Before proceeding to the repair procedure, verify the fuel injection system is properly functioning using the DRB II and the vehicle has proper fuel pressure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
1 Modulator Kit MD175156
Kits consists of:
1 Modulator
1 Jumper Harness
1 Tie-wrap
1 Mounting Bracket

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This repair involves installation of a modulator kit in the electronic control unit wiring harness.
1. Refer to the 1990 Service Manual, Publication # 81-270-0500 to gain access to the ECU and wiring harness.
2. Install the modulator connector into the ECU harness. Plug in jumper harness (supplied) and tie-wrap connector to the ECU as shown in Figure 1.
3. Install the ECU harness into its original position, using care not to damage harness. Install the I.P. harness into modulator connector harness. The harness will connect into bottom side of the supplied jumper harness.

4. Secure modulator in place and install the modulator connection.
5. Install ECU/Modulator assembly.
6. Install bracket (provided) in between the console frame, see Figure 2.
