Brakes - Front Brakes Rattle Without Being Applied

Rattle From Front Brakes When Driving, Without Brakes Applied
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the front brake caliper brackets, spring clips and if necessary front brake pads.
MODELS:
2013 (PF) Dart
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before August 24, 2012 (MDH0824XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Rattle from front brakes when driving, without brakes applied
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Raise the vehicle on a suitable hoist. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerConnect > Tech Connect > Service Info > 04 Vehicle Quick Reference > Hoisting > Standard Procedure > HOISTING.
2. Remove front brake pads from the right and left sides. Refer to the service information outlined in DealerConnect > TechConnect > Service Info > 05 Brakes > 05 Brakes, Base > Hydraulic/Mechanical > Pads, Brake, Front, Removal.
NOTE:
Save front brake pads for inspection and remember pad position on the rotor prior to removal, for possible reinstallation in same location.
3. Remove front caliper adapter bolts, and remove both front caliper adapters along with spring clips. Discard adapters, clips, and bolts.
4. Install new front caliper adapters using new bolts (p/n 06510023AA). Torque bolts to 175 Nm (130 Ft-Lbs).
5. Inspect pads. Refer to the service information outlined in DealerConnect > TechConnect > Service Info > 05 Brakes > 05 Brakes, Base > Hydraulic/Mechanical > Pads, Brake, Front > Inspection.
6. Will the pads require replacement?
a. Yes >>> Install new spring clips and reinstall removed replace the front brake pads. Refer to the service information outlined in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > Service Information tab > 05 - Brakes> 05 - Brakes, Base, Brake > Hydraulic/Mechanical > PADS, Brake, Front > Installation.
b. No-> Proceed to Step # 7
7. Install new spring clips, and original front brake pads. For pad installation, refer to the service information outlined in DealerConnect > TechConnect > Service Info > 05 Brakes > 05 Brakes, Base > Hydraulic/Mechanical > Pads, Brake, Front > Installation.
