THIS SERVICE BULLETIN IS ALSO BEING RELEASED AS RAPID RESPONSE
TRANSMITTAL (RRT) 12-047. ALL APPLICABLE SOLD AND UN-SOLD RRT VIN's
HAVE BEEN LOADED. TO VERIFY THAT THIS RRT SERVICE ACTION IS
APPLICABLE TO THE VEHICLE, USE VIP OR PERFORM A VIN SEARCH IN
TECHCONNECT. ALL REPAIRS ARE REIMBURSABLE WITHIN THE PROVISIONS OF
WARRANTY.
THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 13.01 OR HIGHER TO
PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.
SUBJECT:
Initializing Mis-Fire Monitor
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves performing a Target Linear Coefficient (TLC) learn procedure with wiTECH.
NOTE:
Update every vehicle that comes to your Dealer if this RRT is outstanding against that VIN.
MODELS:
2013 (PF) Dart
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicle equipped with a 1.4L turbo engine (sales code EAF) built before August 4, 2012 (MDH 0804XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
There will be no symptoms that the customer will notice.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTC's are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If a customers VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Connect wiTECH to the vehicle.
2. Turn ignition key to run position.
3. Select PCM from Vehicle View.
4. Select Misc. Functions Tab for the PCM.
5. Set parking brake and start the engine.
6. Select the "Clear Mis-fire TLC" function and verify the Misfire TLC has been cleared.
7. Select the Monitors tab drop down list (top of wiTECH) and select "OBDII Monitors".
8. Select the "Mis-fire Mon SWC" screen.
9. While watching the "Mis-fire Mon SWC" screen, start engine and let warm up until the coolant has reached 140°F( 60°C).
10. Once coolant reaches 140° F( 60° C), perform a 6000 RPM wide open throttle stab and let RPM return to normal.
11. Verify that the Mis-fire Monitor Status on the "Mis-fire Mon SWC" screen has changed from"Waiting"to"In Progress". If 6000 RPM was not achieved than perform Step # 9 again.
