Water Pump - Installation

5.7L/6.4L

1. Clean and inspect the mating surfaces of the timing chain cover and the water pump.
2. Install the metal bypass tube while positioning the water pump (3) to the timing chain cover. Tighten mounting bolts (6) to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the upper stud bolt (2). Tighten mounting bolts (6) to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the lower radiator hose.
5. Install belt tensioner assembly (4) Accessory Drive Belt Tensioner - Installation.
6. Install idler pulley (5).

7. Install upper metal heater tube. Tighten mounting bolts to 12 Nm (106 in. lbs.).
8. Connect the temperature sensor (2) electrical connector (5).
9. Install serpentine belt (6) Serpentine Accessory Drive Belt - Installation.
10. Install the resonator mounting bracket.
11. Install cooling fan assembly Cooling Fan - Installation.
12. Install the upper radiator hose to the thermostat housing (1).
13. Install the air intake assembly Air Cleaner Body - Installation.
14. Connect negative battery cable.
15. Evacuate air and refill cooling system Service and Repair.
16. Check cooling system for leaks Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures.
