HELP USING THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION FOR FLASHING AN ECU IS AVAILABLE BY SELECTING "HELP" THEN "HELP CONTENTS" AT THE TOP OF THE wiTECH DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION WINDOW. THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 12.02 OR HIGHER TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.

SUBJECT:
Flash: Keyless Ignition Node And Radio Back Lighting Is Too Bright At Night In Police Stealth Mode

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves flash reprogramming Body Control Module with new software.

MODELS:

2012 (LD) Charger (Police Only)

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to LD vehicles built before January 24, 2012 equipped with Police Group (sales code AHB) only.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The service flash corrects the following condition:

^ The Keyless Ignition Node and Radio back lighting is too bright at night in Police Stealth Mode while the headlights are off.

DIAGNOSIS:
Verify that the Body Control Module is functioning as designed. If DTC's are present, record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further.

If the customer describes the symptom, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

NOTE:
Install a battery charger to ensure battery voltage does not drop below 13.2 volts. Do not allow the charging voltage to climb above 13.5 volts during the flash process.

NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.

NOTE:
The ignition must be in the OFF position in order to flash reprogram the BCM on Powernet vehicles.

1. Flash reprogram the Body Control Module. Help using the wiTECH Diagnostic Application for flashing a Body Control Module is made available through the wiTECH Diagnostic Application. For instructions select the "HELP" tab on upper portion of the wiTECH window, then "HELP CONTENTS." This will open the Welcome to wiTECH Help screen where help topics can be selected.

2. Place the ignition in the RUN position.

3. Wait approximately one minute for the BCM to learn the backup configuration.

4. Place the ignition in the OFF position.

5.Disconnect the battery and wait approximately 20 seconds.

6. Reconnect the battery.

7. Place the ignition in the RUN position.

8. Clear any DTC's that may have been set in other modules due to reprogramming. The wiTECH application will automatically present all DTCs after the flash and allow the tech to clear them.

9. Using wiTECH, ensure that 'Remote Start Temporary Disable" is NOT set. This routine is available under the 'Misc Functions' tab found on the BCM page of wiTECH.

10. Using wiTECH, ensure that 'Tip Start Temporary Disable" is NOT set. This routine is available under the 'Misc Functions' tab found on the BCM page of wiTECH.

11. Is this a 'Sold' vehicle?

a. Yes - Using wiTECH, ensure that the vehicle is in "Customer Mode' . This routine is available under the 'Misc Functions' tab found on the BCM page of wiTECH.

b. No - Using wiTECH, ensure that the vehicle is in "Shipping Mode". This routine is available under the 'Misc Functions' tab found on the BCM page of wiTECH.
