INFORMATION.
THE wiTECH SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 13.01 OR HIGHER TO PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.
SUBJECT:
FLASH: Police Vehicle Central Body Controller
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves reconfiguring the Police Vehicle Central Body Controller (CBC) and installing 2 tail lamp jumper harnesses.
MODELS:
2012 - 2011 (LD) Charger
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before June 9, 2012 (MDH 0609XX) equipped with Police group package (sales code AHB).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Tech may find that any of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) have been set:
B1642-15, B16AF-15, B1646-15 or B16B3-15.
Reconfiguring the vehicle and installing the tail lamp jumper harness will correct this concern.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify no DTC's are set. If DTC's are present other than the ones listed above, record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the customer describes the symptom, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Using wiTECH, reconfigure the vehicle. This routine is available under the 'Diagnostic Procedures' tab found on the home, 'Vehicle View', page of wiTECH.
2. Using wiTECH, clear any DTCs which may have been set during the reconfiguration.
3. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
4. Open the trunk and pull back the left and right quarter trim panel to gain access to the tail lamp connectors.
5. Disconnect the tail lamp connectors from the tail lamp assembly.
6. Take one of the jumper harnesses from the kit and connect the jumper harness to the tail lamp and the body harness.
7. Repeat step 6 for the other tail lamp.
NOTE:
Make sure the connectors are properly attached. Push connectors together and listen for a "click" noise from the lock tab. Gently pull back on the connector to make sure the connectors are properly locked in place.
8. Cut 2 pieces foam tape 4 inches long.
9. Wrap foam tape around the jumper harness connector that is connected to the body harness, see (Fig. 1).
10. Place the wire harness back in it's proper location.
11. Reinstall the inner trim panel.
12. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
