Vehicles equipped with the Passive Entry (PE) system have approach lamps (3) located in the outside rear view mirrors (1). This lamp consists of a clear Light Emitting Diode (LED) unit integral to the mirror glass and case (2) that illuminates through the mirror glass whenever the interior courtesy lamps are active, such as when a door is ajar or with the illuminated entry feature.
