SAFETY RECALL M01 HEADLAMP AND ABS/ESC WIRING
Effective immediately all repairs on involved vehicles are to be performed according to this notification. Service Bulletin 08-001-12 and 08-047-11 are no longer applicable for the involved vehicles only.
MODELS:
2011 - 2012 (LD) Dodge Charger
NOTE:
This recall applies only to the above vehicles equipped with Police Group (sales code AHB) built from July 26, 2010 through December 20, 2011 (MDH 072618 through 122023).
^ The headlamp wiring harness connectors on about 330 of the above vehicles may overheat. This could cause a loss of low beam headlamp function without warning. A loss of headlamps during nighttime driving could cause a crash without warning.
These vehicles may also experience a loss of Antilock Brake System (ABS) and/or Electronic Stability Control (ESC) as a result of an overheated Power Distribution Center (PDC) bus bar. A loss of ABS/ESC under certain driving conditions could cause a crash without warning.
Also, the front exterior door handles may cause intermittent operation of the passive entry feature. All 2011 model year vehicles must have the front exterior door handles replaced. This repair is required to improve the quality of the door handles and is not a result of a safety defect.
^ To correct this condition, all vehicles must have the headlamp harnesses inspected and replaced if necessary.
The ABS/ESC fuse type must also be inspected. Vehicles that do not pass inspection must have the ABS/ESC fuse relocated and the fuse type upgraded.
All 2011 model year vehicles must have the front exterior door handles replaced.
