Instrument Cluster Indicators - Description

DESCRIPTION

The Instrument Cluster (IC) (also known as the Common Instrument Cluster/CIC) for this vehicle has provisions for up to 18 indicators that are each controlled by the IC electronic circuitry. Some of the indicators are automatically configured when the IC is connected to the vehicle electrical system for compatibility with certain optional equipment or equipment required for regulatory purposes in certain markets. While each IC may have provisions for indicators to support every available option, the configurable indicators will not function in vehicles that do not have the equipment that an indicator supports.

The IC includes provisions for the following indicators:

- Airbag Indicator (13)
- All Wheel Drive (AWD) Indicator (2)
- Antilock Brake System (ABS) Indicator (16)
- Brake Indicator (15) or (19) - text only for U.S. market, icon only for markets outside U.S.
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC) OFF Indicator (18)
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC) System Activation Indicator (20)
- Front Fog Lamp Indicator (5) - with optional front fog lamps only
- High Beam Indicator (7)
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (10)
- Over Drive (O/D) OFF Indicator (21)
- Position Lamp Indicator (3) - only for certain export markets
- Rear Fog Lamp Indicator (6) - only for certain export markets
- Seat Belt Indicator (22)
- Security Indicator (17)
- Sport Mode Indicator (14)
- Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) Indicator (9)
- Turn Signal (Right and Left) Indicators (4)

Each indicator in the IC, except those located within the Thin Film Transistor (TFT) display unit (8), is illuminated by a dedicated Light Emitting Diode (LED) unit that is soldered onto the IC electronic circuit board. These LED units are serviced only as a part of the complete IC and, if damaged or ineffective, the entire IC assembly must be replaced.
