Vehicle System Interface Module - Installation

INSTALLATION

WITH FULL FLOOR CONSOLE

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.

1. Engage the stepped tab (2) on one end of the Vehicle System Interface Module (VSIM) into the slot in the adapter bracket (4), then rotate the opposite end of the VSIM down against the bracket far enough to insert and engage the snap clip (5).
2. Position the VSIM and adapter bracket unit to the underside of the gearshift opening cover bezel.
3. Install and tighten the four screws (3) that secure the adapter bracket and VSIM to the underside of the bezel. Tighten the screws securely.

4. Position the VSIM (2) and bezel (1) as a unit close enough to the console (3) to reconnect the two wire harness connectors to the VSIM connector receptacles.
5. Position the VSIM and bezel over the console opening and, using hand pressure, press the bezel down firmly and evenly until it snaps into place.
6. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
