Cellular Phone: Testing and Inspection

DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING - U-CONNECT

1. Service writer needs to ask customer what blue tooth cell phone they are using (make/model). If possible, see if the customer will leave phone to aid in diagnosis.
2. Technician needs to verify what U-connect system is in the vehicle (are the U-Connect buttons in the mirror or in the radio).
3. If the buttons are in the radio, use the appropriate web site to verify the phone is on the compatible phone list. If the phone is not on the compatible phone list, then the phone is likely the issue.
4. To verify the mirror mics are functioning follow the following procedures:

Change Radio Stations Using Voice Recognition:

b. Press the VR button to start the system
c. After prompt say (station 101.3)
d. If station changed correctly try to change to another station if desired

Change U-Connect Language Using Voice Recognition:

f. Press the PHONE button to activate the U-Connect System.
g. After prompted say "Set-up".
h. While in set-up menu, press VR button and after prompt say "Language".
i. After the system gives you your choices and prompts you, say "espanol" this will change the system over to Spanish.
j. System will then ask you to acknowledge the change at this time say "yes" (Please note that the system will be speaking to you in Spanish. Just wait for prompt).
km. At this time the system will change to Spanish.
l. Press the PHONE button to turn system off.
m. Press PHONE button again to start system.
n. Press VR button and after prompt say "English".
o. System will then ask you to acknowledge the change at this time say "yes".
p. System will then change back to English.
5. If system changed languages, Do not replace mirror.
6. If system failed to change languages, check wiring between mirror and Radio/HFM.
7. If wiring is correct make sure Radio or HFM has been flashed with current updates.
8. If system still does not respond, replace Mirror.
