Component Tests and General Diagnostics
DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING - UNIVERSAL TRANSMITTER
If the universal transmitter is inoperative, retrain the universal transmitter with a known good transmitter. Be certain that the transmitter battery is okay. Programming and Relearning. Test the universal transmitter operation again. If the unit is still inoperative, test the universal transmitter with the Radio Frequency Detector special tool as described below:
1. Turn the Radio Frequency (RF) Detector ON (3). An audible chirp will sound and the green power Light Emitting Diode (LED) unit (2) will light. If the green LED unit does not light, replace the battery (4).
2. Hold the RF detector within 2.5 cm (1 inch) of the TRAINED universal transmitter and press any one of the transmitter buttons.
3. The red signal detection LED units (1) will light and the tool will beep if a radio signal is detected. Repeat this test for all three transmitter buttons. If the tool does not detect a radio signal for any of the three buttons, replace the inoperative universal transmitter assembly. Universal Transmitter - Removal.
