Cylinder Head Assembly: Specifications
CYLINDER HEADInstall the cylinder head bolts and tighten in the sequence shown.
If your bolt has the short head, use the following torque specifications:
First: All 30 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)
Second: All 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.)
Third: All 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.)
Fourth: All an additional 90°
CAUTION: Do not use a torque wrench for the Fourth step.
If your bolt has the long head, use the following torque specifications:
First: All 30 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)
Second: All 73 Nm (54 ft. lbs.)
Third: All 73 Nm (54 ft. lbs.)
Fourth: All an additional 90°
CAUTION: Do not use a torque wrench for the Fourth step.
HEAD BOLT REUSE/REPLACE
CAUTION: The cylinder head bolts are tightened using a torque plus angle procedure. The bolts must be examined BEFORE reuse. If the threads are necked down the bolts must be replaced.
SURFACE VARIATION HEAD-TO-BLOCK
Deck surface must be within service limit of 0.050 mm (0.002 in.).

M6 Bolts 12 Nm (106 in.lbs)
M8 Bolts 30 Nm (22 ft.lbs)
