DMT6 Manual Transmission - Disassembly
DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove input shaft bearing retainer bolts (2).
2. Remove the selector mechanism retaining bolts (1).
NOTE: Insure that the selector mechanism is in neutral.
3. Remove the selector mechanism (2).
4. Remove bellhousing side differential seal (2) using a screwdriver or a pry bar (3).
5. Remove case side differential seal (2) using a screwdriver or a pry bar (3).
6. Remove the clip (2) at the clutch slave cylinder hydraulic lines and remove the breather (1).
7. Remove the bolts (3) at the clutch slave cylinder (4).
8. Remove the clutch slave cylinder.
9. Remove the bolts (2) at the gear shift bracket (1) and remove the bracket.
10. Remove the case side bolts (3).
11. Remove the bellhousing side case retaining bolts (3).
12. Split the case halves by lifting the bellhousing side off.
13. Remove the differential assembly (10) from case.
14. Remove 5th, 6th and reverse shift shaft (3).
15. Remove the magnet from the case (11).
16. Using large tie straps (1) tie the 1st through 4th gear output shaft, 5th, 6th and reverse output shaft, input shaft, shift forks and 1st through 4th gear selector shafts (2) together.
17. Lift the assembly that is strapped together out in one piece and place in Fixture 10037.
18. Cut the tie straps (4) and remove the fork assemblies.
19. Remove the input shaft (2).
20. Remove the 1st through 4th gear output shaft (1).
21. Remove the 5th through 6th and reverse output shaft (3).
NOTE: The removal and installation of the differential, input and output shaft bearing cups can be found in the assembly procedure.
