Turbocharger System Lines and Hoses - Removal
LINES AND HOSES
COOLANT SUPPLY LINE
1. Raise and support the vehicle on hoist.
2. Drain the cooling system Service and Repair.
3. Remove the coolant hoses from the after run pump. Remove the hose at the pump to hose end. Do not remove the hose from the steel tube end.
4. Remove the plastic clip to turbocharger housing screw.
5. Remove the banjo bolt (3) from the coolant supply line at the turbocharger.
6. Remove the coolant supply tube (4) from the brass fitting at the cylinder block. Hold brass fitting with a wrench to prevent it from spinning.
7. If damaged, remove the brass fitting from the engine block.
COOLANT RETURN LINE
1. Drain the cooling system Service and Repair.
2. Remove the fastener securing the coolant return line bracket to turbocharger housing.
3. Remove the return hose from the thermostat housing.
4. Remove the banjo bolt (2) from the coolant return tube at the turbocharger.
5. Remove the coolant return line.
OIL SUPPLY LINE
1. Raise the vehicle on hoist.
2. Remove the coolant return line (2).
3. Disconnect the oil supply line from the brass fitting at the engine block. Hold the brass fitting with a wrench so it doesn't spin.
4. If damaged, remove the brass fitting from the engine block.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Disconnect the oil supply line (1) at the turbocharger. Hold the brass fitting with a wrench so it doesn't spin.
7. Remove oil supply line.
8. If damaged, remove the brass fitting from the turbocharger.
OIL RETURN TUBE
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the turbocharger drain back tube mounting screws from the turbocharger.
3. Remove the turbocharger drain back tube from the drain back nipple at the engine block.
4. If damaged or showing signs of leakage, using locking pliers and a twisting motion, remove the drain back nipple (3) from the engine block.
