Proper Transmission Fill Plug Location

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin provides information regarding the proper fill plug location on the 6-Speed DM16 manual transmission.

NOTE:
This information should be shared with all service personnel.

MODELS:

2008 (PM) Caliber SRT4

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with a 2.4L Turbo engine and a 6-speed manual DMT6 transmission (sales codes ED4 and DEK)

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

NOTE:
The fluid required for this transaxle is Mopar(R) ATF+4 (Automatic Transmission Fluid). Use of improper or substitute fluids can cause shift issues and/or transaxle damage.





1. When filling the fluid on the 6-speed DM16 transmission do not use the rubber plug. The proper fill plug is threaded and located just below the rubber plug (Fig. 1)

NOTE:
Do not use the rubber plug (located above callout 2) for transmission fill or top off.
