StarSCAN(R) SOFTWARE LEVEL MUST BE AT RELEASE 8.04 OR HIGHER.

StarMOBILE DESKTOP CLIENT -OR- StarMOBILE STANDALONE MODE MAY ALSO BE USED TO PERFORM THE FLASH.

SUBJECT:

Flash: MIL Illumination with DIG P0234 and/or P0128

OVERVIEW:

This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

MODELS:

2008 (PM) SRT 4 Caliber

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to models equipped with a 2.4L Turbo engine (Sales Code ED4) built prior to March 4, 2008 (MDH 0304XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may experience intermittent MIL illumination. A limp in condition and/or lack of Turbo boost after the MIL, can be experienced. Further investigation by the technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0234 Turbocharger Overboost Condition and/or P0128 Thermostat Rationality are set.

DIAGNOSIS:
Using a scan tool with the appropriate diagnostic procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed and no Turbo charger modifications have occurred. If DIG's other than those listed above are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.

If the above symptom/condition is experienced and cause for DTC's cannot be determined, perform the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE - USING THE INTERNET TO RETRIEVE THE FLASH FILE:

NOTE:
If this flash process is interrupted/aborted, the flash should be restarted.

1. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT, Refer To Group 8 - Electrical > Electronic Control Modules - Service Information > Module - Powertrain Control > Standard Procedures > PCM/ECM Programming - Gas.

2. Type the necessary information on the "Authorized Modification Label" and attach it near the VECI label.
