Flash: Idle Oscillation After Fuel Fill With Or Without Clicking Sound From Engine Compartment
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
MODELS:
2008 (PM) SRT 4 Caliber
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to models equipped with a 2.4L Turbo engine (Sales Code ED4) built prior to April 18, 2008 (MDH 0418XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Some customers may experience an idle oscillation following a fuel fill. There may also be a clicking sound associated with the oscillation. This condition occurs at approximately 50° F,( 10° C) ambient temperatures.
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a scan tool with the appropriate diagnostic procedures available in TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If DTC's are present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further with this bulletin.
If not DTC's are present and the vehicle operator experiences the Symptom/Condition perform the repair procedure.

NOTE:
If this flash process is interruptedlaborted, the flash should be restarted.
1. Reprogram the PCM with the latest software. Follow the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/TechCONNECT, Refer To Group 8 - Electrical > Electronic Control Modules - Service Information > Module - Powertrain Control > Standard Procedures > PCM/ECM Programming - Gas.
2. Type the necessary information on the "Authorized Modification Label and attach it near the VECI label.
