INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Always inspect the brake pads before installing the disc brake caliper and replace as necessary. Brake Pads - Inspection

1. Completely retract the caliper pistons back into their bores in the caliper. Hand pressure or a C-clamp may also be used to retract the pistons, first placing a wood block over the pistons before installing the C-clamp to avoid damaging the pistons.

CAUTION: Use care when installing the caliper onto the adapter bracket to avoid damaging the guide pin boots.

2. Push caliper guide pins into the caliper adapter as far as possible to allow clearance when installing caliper.
3. Install the disc brake caliper (1) over the brake pads on the brake caliper adapter bracket (3).
4. Align the caliper guide pin bolt holes with the adapter bracket. Install the upper and lower caliper guide pin bolts (2). Tighten the guide pin bolts to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).

CAUTION: Make sure that the side of the banjo fitting (1) with the step machined into it is placed toward the caliper (away from bolt head) upon installation.

5. Install the banjo bolt (3) connecting the brake flex hose (1) to the brake caliper (4). Install NEW washers (2) on each side of the hose fitting as the banjo bolt is guided through the fitting. Thread the banjo bolt into the caliper and tighten it to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).

6. Install the tire and wheel assembly (1) Tires and Wheels - Installation. Install and tighten the wheel mounting nuts (3) to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
7. Lower the vehicle.

8. Remove the brake pedal holding tool.

9. Bleed the caliper as necessary. Brake Bleeding
10. Road test the vehicle and make several stops to wear off any foreign material on the brakes and to seat the brake shoes.
